Job Summary

The Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports and works with personnel within various departments.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger dericks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner.
  • Troubleshoot deisel and gas engines
  • Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
  • Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS; 1/4" up to 2"
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CDL class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to do tune‑ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoe, basic engine repair, and electric repair.
  • Basic diesel and drive train experience.
  • Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
  • Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Ability to work schedule M - F; 7am - 5:30pm
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of experience.
  • DOT Certified Flagger.
  • CDL Class A license.
  • Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair.
  • Air brake certification.
