Overview
Pioneer Welding & Fabrication is seeking a mid–senior level Steel Detailer to join our team. This role demands a technician with significant experience in producing and coordinating highly detailed shop and erection drawings for complex steel structures. As a key member of our engineering and fabrication group, you will work independently to deliver precision work and collaborate across multiple project teams, ensuring all deliverables meet rigorous industry and client standards.
Key Responsibilities- Produce Advanced Shop Drawings:
Create highly detailed drawings specifying material selection, connection types, welds, and fabrication notes for complex steel projects. - Develop and Review Erection Drawings:
Provide clear, comprehensive assembly drawings for field crews, ensuring safe, code-compliant steel erection. - 3D Modeling and BIM Coordination:
Independently model steel structures using Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or equivalent. Detect and resolve clashes, produce material reports, and optimize fabrication workflow. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Communicate directly with engineers, architects, project managers, and clients to resolve technical challenges, implement design revisions, and proactively address constructability issues. - Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure all documentation complies with AISC, AWS, and relevant building codes. Participate in design review and QC processes.
- Required:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a steel detailer (mid–senior level)
- Advanced proficiency with steel detailing/BIM software (Tekla, SDS/2, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Preferred:
- Prior experience with Florida or Southeast U.S. steel fabrication standards
- Familiarity with AISC, AWS D1.1, and relevant codes
- Experience leading or mentoring junior detailers
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-volume, accurate shop and erection drawings for commercial/industrial projects
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Ability to interpret and coordinate structural and architectural drawings
Location:
100% Remote - MUST BE LOCATED IN US (servicing Florida, South Georgia, and South Alabama)
Base pay range: $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr
Compensation: $60,000 – $70,000/year (commensurate with experience)
