Dream Company

This organization is led by a team that is still relatively young in tenure but deeply committed to doing things the right way, having taken the reins in recent years to reshape the culture from the top. Decisions get made collaboratively, and finance is treated as a genuine partner in setting direction rather than a support function that reports after the fact.

The company is in a real growth phase, and its leaders are looking for someone who can bring steady, experienced judgment to match their ambition.

Dream Job

This is a role built for someone who wants a seat at the table, not just the numbers. As a member of the senior leadership team, this person will help shape financial strategy and long range planning alongside the President and other key leaders, while also owning the accounting function day to day. It suits someone with deep construction accounting experience who is ready to bring maturity, structure, and a broader business perspective to a company that is actively scaling.

Role

Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Serve as a key advisor to the President and senior leadership team on financial strategy, annual planning, and long range forecasting, while overseeing all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Build and develop a high performing finance team, establishing KPIs, mentoring staff, and building succession plans for key positions
Project & Cash Flow Management
  • Oversee project accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting, monitoring contract profitability, billing accuracy, and revenue recognition in partnership with operations
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and borrowing facilities, and drive working capital efficiency through credit, collections, and payables management
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and ensure timely completion of annual audits
Systems, Reporting & Compliance
  • Own the company's ERP and financial reporting systems, ensuring data integrity and building dashboards that support operational and financial decision making
  • Oversee multi-state tax compliance and property tax filings, and coordinate tax planning initiatives with outside advisors
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities; 7 or more years preferred
  • Construction accounting experience required; fire protection industry experience is a plus
  • Project accounting software experience preferred; proficiency in Quick Books with project accounting functionality, or a similar system, is acceptable
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; accounting concentration preferred; master's degree a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of building and managing high performing teams
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, ERP platforms, payroll, and tax preparation software
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other company locations
