Job Description SummaryIn accordance with FVTC’s policies and the Wisconsin Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing, this position provides responsible care, development, guidance, and supervision of the children in the FVTC Parent/Child Center. The candidate will also work with and mentor students in the Early Childhood Education Program in cooperation with instructional staff.
Essential Job Functions- Adhere to all regulations as required by the Wisconsin Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing.
- Assist in implementation and administration of curriculum and daily activities for the developmental level of the children to promote self‑esteem, social interaction, communication skills, creative expression, motor development, intellectual growth, and literacy.
- Adequately supervise children and respond appropriately to ensure safety and well‑being of each child.
- Provide coverage to teaching staff across age groups within the center (ages 6 weeks to 6 years; summer 6 weeks to 9 years).
- Demonstrate appropriate child guidance to positively enhance behaviors and development without causing pain or injury.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate progress and behaviors of each child and respond as applicable.
- Inform parents of children’s activities, progress, behaviors, and incidents via daily conversations, pick‑up/drop‑off, and written daily reports.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, healthy, productive learning environment.
- Assist Parent/Child Center management with administrative support.
- Participate in planning and implementing events.
- Determine supplies and equipment needed, and monitor condition, making repairs or replacements as needed.
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or current student pursuing the degree.
- Successful background check as required.
- Current CPR certification plus SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome qualifications.
- Ethical conduct in all work aspects.
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent oral and written communication and listening skills.
- Ability to identify needed action without direction or supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, neatness.
- Positive attitude, maturity, initiative, integrity, and professional image.
- Team‑work ability.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Commitment to professional growth, including annual certification and continuing education requirements.
- Dependable, punctual, follow‑through.
- Flexibility between 7am–4:30pm.
- Good working knowledge of child‑care methods, theory, and procedures.
- Meeting physical requirements stated in the Wisconsin Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing.
