What You Get To Do (Essential Functions)
  • Business Development
  • Involvement with project pursuits from initial client contact.
  • Provide feedback on design effort and assist in the development of our proposals.
  • Create and/or oversee the creation of presentation drawings for proposals.
  • Attend and play a key role in project interviews with potential clients.
Pre-Design and Design Phases
  • Lead site survey/field investigation as required.
  • Work with clients to create preliminary design documentation, including space programming.
  • Develop and manage the creation of plan and specification documents with minimal assistance from senior staff.
  • Initiate and lead internal and external project progress meetings and follow up with the necessary documentation and action.
  • Research and review products, materials, and building assemblies for selection and incorporation into the project design.
  • Collaborate with and oversee other design disciplines (electrical, HVAC, structural, etc.) as needed.
  • Perform necessary design analysis and calculations to confirm compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Participate in and lead client and project presentations.
  • Coordinate project team design documents to ensure consistency among all design disciplines.
Construction Administration
  • Attend and lead site visits and OAC progress meetings during construction.
  • Serve as the construction administrator during the construction phase, as required.
  • Review and approve shop drawings and respond to requests for information during construction.
  • Maintain design files for all design documents including working drawings, as-built drawings, shop drawings, submittals, and other relevant documents.
General Project Management
  • Identify and resolve key and unique issues, considerations, and/or deficiencies as the project progresses.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on all drawings and design documents for assigned projects.
  • Establish, oversee and manage project schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Secure agency approvals as required for building permitting.
  • Assist with the management of client and contractor relations.
  • Participate in and lead team, client, and department meetings.
  • Assist in the creation of project contracts for consultants and clients.
Professional Growth
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of architectural and engineering standards for Boldt specifications, drawing format, administrative procedures, and quality control measures.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Function as an in‑house technical resource for project issues regarding architectural design.
What We Expect From You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Seven or more years of related design experience in the industrial and manufacturing industries, including knowledge of construction technology, design, applicable codes, regulations, standards, and other applicable expertise.
  • Hold a valid architectural license.
  • NCARB Accreditation is preferred.
  • Experience managing projects at all phases of design and construction, coordinating engineering, dealing with permitting, and communicating and working with contractors and clients.
  • Proficient with computer aided drawing software including Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam Revu, and other related systems (experience with project rendering is a plus).
  • Project management knowledge and be proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
