Job Description SummaryAdjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of instructional strategies that meets the needs of students and employers and promote student success.
Job DescriptionEssential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Learning FacilitationFoster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in-person, virtual, and on-line course delivery.
AssessmentAssess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and learning and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence.
Classroom ManagementFulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation.
Team ParticipationSupport the college by engaging with the division, department, and team members, as well as staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
Business & Community EngagementBuild and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners. Proactively promote the College and our programs.
Student Success & SupportServe as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful.
Professional DevelopmentContinually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices and teaching through professional development activities, networking with regional industry leaders, and the integration of new techniques and technology. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in related and appropriate field required (Master's degree preferred), AND
- Minimum of at least 4,000 hours occupational experience in a target job for the program being taught. 3-5 years occupational experience preferred.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
- Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.
- Proficiency utilizing learning management system.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences.
- Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by embracing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
