Instructor – FABTECH (Heavy Equipment/Caterpillar Maintenance Program) – Limited Term Employment
Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) seeks an instructor for its FABTECH Education Center. The position is a fixed‑term faculty appointment, expected to conclude on December 21, 2026.
Job Description SummaryInstructors facilitate student learning and continually develop curriculum that meets the needs of students and employers, using instructional strategies that promote student success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation – Develop student‑centered instructional strategies for diverse learners; create learning experiences that integrate technology and support hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online delivery.
- Assessment – Assess student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to measure outcomes and design improvement strategies.
- Curriculum Development – Develop and revise competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, manage safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure course materials are available.
- Team Participation – Engage in division, department, and team activities, including planning, development, and budgeting, and stay current with internal and external changes.
- Business & Community Engagement – Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; participate in advisory committees and community groups; recruit students and promote the College.
- Student Success & Support – Act as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students, close achievement gaps, and provide career guidance.
- Professional Development – Pursue emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching techniques; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required for accreditation.
- Serve as Fabtech Training Center liaison.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (associate degree may be considered).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years as an industry technician; one year of recent occupational experience may be waived if the candidate has 2 years of post‑secondary teaching experience within 5 years of hire.
- Teaching or training experience is desirable.
- Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs and develop curriculum.
- Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required for accreditation.
- Air Conditioning Certification required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Subject to FVTC’s Motor Vehicle Records Check.
- Proficiency utilizing a learning management system.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability to changing demands and assignments.
- Professional development through innovative instruction methods.
- Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required for accreditation.
- Background check including criminal record history (results will not automatically disqualify an applicant).
- Primarily in‑person with hybrid/virtual support.
- Classroom and laboratory settings.
- Occasional outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Extended periods of sitting at a computer.
- Mobility required for meetings, facility tours, and laboratory teaching.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (up to 50 pounds).
- Climbing stairs or ladders as needed.
- Fine motor skills for instructional technology and whiteboard use.
- Repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort.
- Communication skills – verbal and written.
- Travel may be required for teaching and professional development.
- Driving or operating equipment as required.

Pay and BenefitsPay range: $89,500.00 – $ (pro-rated for the expected 40‑hour schedule).
