Casual - Nursing Educator

Fox Valley Technical College – Appleton Main Campus

Hours per week: 11.75.

Schedule:

Mondays 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm (maximum 11.75 hours per week). Pay rate: $45.00 per hour.

Job Description Summary

Nursing Educators support student learning and the ongoing development of instructional strategies that promote student success in conjunction with course instructors. Educators provide intensive education support sessions to all students registered in selected program courses, working closely with faculty to develop, deliver, and assess instructional content. The educator collaborates with the primary instructor during scheduled sessions and offers additional support outside of class time.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Learning Facilitation
  • Foster student learning by collaborating with course faculty and health coaches to develop and deliver instructional support content that meets diverse student needs.
  • Employ engaging learning experiences using multiple delivery methods, including hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online modalities.
  • Assist students in practicing and reinforcing course content and skills.
  • Assist students and instructors with computer technology and software applications used in practice.
Assessment & Student Support
  • Assess student learning activities and provide regular feedback to promote success.
  • Develop course support activities to monitor and assess student progress.
  • Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps.
  • Proctor student exams in appropriate situations.
  • Consult with instructors and health coaches on student progress, behaviors, and concerns.
Instructional Environment & Lab Operations
  • Fulfill assigned schedule and maintain accurate student attendance.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure instructional support environment.
  • Set up and maintain practice learning stations.
  • Recommend and prepare supplies and equipment needed for supportive course content and student practice.
Professional Collaboration & Team Engagement
  • Engage with course leads and departmental teams to support college initiatives.
  • Stay current with internal and external changes and developments.
  • Participate in activities to remain current in professional practice, techniques, equipment, and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Nursing.
  • Demonstrated recent, relevant work experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • Recommended Wisconsin Registered Nurse license.
  • Proficiency utilizing learning management systems.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs.
  • Effective professional communication with various audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovative instructional methodologies.
Work Environment
  • Work will be completed in a hybrid environment, both in person and virtually.
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility: ability to move around the classroom or instructional space.
  • Standing and sitting: capability to stand for extended periods and sit for administrative tasks.
  • Lifting and carrying: ability to lift and carry teaching materials or equipment when necessary.
  • Fine motor skills: precise hand movements for whiteboard writing, demonstrations, or instructional technology use.
  • Communication: clear verbal and written communication skills.
