Adjunct Instructor - Veterinary Technician
Fox Valley Technical College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Veterinary Technician courses. The role requires a passion for education and experience in veterinary medicine.
Job Description SummaryAdjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of instructional strategies that promote student success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation – develop instructional strategies for diverse student needs; use hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online delivery.
- Assessment – assess student learning, provide regular feedback, use data to measure outcomes and implement improvement strategies.
- Classroom Management – maintain schedules, attendance, grade records, safety, housekeeping, and equipment security.
- Team Participation – support the college through departmental engagement and stay current with internal and external changes.
- Business & Community Engagement – build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; promote the College and its programs.
- Student Success & Support – advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps.
- Professional Development – improve knowledge in emerging trends and teaching practices; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance and licensure requirements.
- Curriculum Development – develop competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy.
- Associate degree or higher (Bachelor’s preferred) in Veterinary Technology or related field.
- Minimum 4,000 occupational hours in the target job; 3‑5 years experience preferred.
- Teaching or training experience preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs.
- Maintain faculty quality assurance requirements and licensure after hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Subject to FVTC Motor Vehicle Records Check.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (passed VTNE) or DVM, credentialed via an AVMA‑accredited program, certified in Wisconsin.
- Proficiency with a learning management system.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and student needs.
- Background check (criminal record) will be conducted prior to hire.
- Stand and walk for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs; stoop, bend, crouch frequently; reach and handle tools; drive vehicle.
- Possibility of fieldwork and travel for professional development.
- Work is performed in person, typically in a classroom or outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Often in proximity to large, small, and exotic animals.
