Adjunct Instructor - Cosmetology

Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) is hiring an Adjunct Instructor for the Cosmetology program, primarily at the Appleton Main Campus. The role is part–time, 8.75 hours per week, and will be taught in a hybrid setting (in‑person, virtual, and online). Adjunct Instructors facilitate student learning and continuously develop instructional strategies that meet students’ and employers’ needs and promote student success.

• Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies that support diverse student needs and engagement.
• Integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success.
• Assess student learning and provide regular feedback; use data to measure and improve outcomes.
• Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure a safe instructional environment, and manage equipment security.
• Engage with division, department, and team members and stay current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; promote the College and its programs.
• Advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services staff, and work to close achievement gaps.
• Pursue continuous professional development; keep current with industry trends, teaching practices, and technology.
• Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and required licensure for accreditation.

• Completion of a cosmetology program focused on Wisconsin state licensure.
• Minimum of 4,000 hours in the field within the last five years.
• Previous teaching or training experience preferred.
• Current Wisconsin Cosmetology license required.
• Current knowledge of hair, scalp, skin, and nail wellness, equipment, and sanitation requirements.
• Knowledge of the latest industry trends and Wisconsin licensing statutes and codes.
• Understanding of the cosmetologist’s role within a salon team.
• Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of hire and throughout employment; meet HLC, FQAS, and other licensing standards.

• Current Wisconsin Cosmetology license.
• Proficiency with a learning management system.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.
• Professional presentation and communication with diverse audiences.
• Engagement in continuous improvement using innovative methodologies.
• Background check, including criminal record, will be conducted prior to hire.

• Flexibility and mobility to demonstrate cosmetology techniques.
• Occasional or continuous lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (up to 25 pounds).
• Fine motor skills for hand movements, writing, and use of instructional technology.
• Capacity for repetitive motions such as technique demonstrations.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Travel may be required for fieldwork or professional development.

• Hybrid setting (in person, virtual, online) depending on the mode of delivery.
• Work typically performed in a classroom.
