Adjunct Instructor - CNC Router (Woodworking)

Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) is hiring an Adjunct Instructor to teach students on programming and operating a CNC controlled router.

Adjunct faculty are responsible for facilitating student learning and developing instructional strategies that promote student success. Instruct students on CNC router operation, reading and writing G‑Code, loading machine programs, and exploring machining operations.

• Learning Facilitation – Develop instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement.
• Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback, using data to design improvement strategies.
• Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure a safe instructional environment, and support student/engagement evaluation.
• Team Participation – Engage with division, department, and team members and stay current with institutional.
• Business & Community Engagement – Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners to promote the college.
• Student Success & Support – Advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, and close achievement gaps.
• Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills through professional development, networking, and integration of new techniques and technology.
• Curriculum Development – If needed, develop competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations.

• Associate degree or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 4,000 hours of occupational experience in a target job; 3‑5 years preferred.
• Teaching or training experience desirable.
• Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including curriculum development.
• Qualified per FVTC requirements and meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS).

• Proficiency utilizing a learning management system.
• Strong verbal communication skills and professional engagement with diverse audiences.
• Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs.
• Commitment to continuous improvement in instruction through innovative methodologies and delivery methods.
• Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.

• Mobility – walking between students’ desks or workstations; standing for long periods.
• Standing and Sitting – stand during lectures or demonstrations, and sit for grading, office hours, and administrative tasks.
• Lifting and Carrying – depending on subject matter, lift and carry teaching materials, equipment, or props.
• Speech and Hearing – clear speech and ability to hear students’ questions and interactions.
• Fine Motor Skills – precise hand movements or manual dexterity for activities such as writing on a whiteboard and using instructional technology.
• Visual Acuity – adequate vision to read course materials, assess student work, and operate instructional equipment.
• Health and Safety – ensure a safe learning environment by understanding and adhering to safety protocols and responding to emergencies.

• Work may be completed in a hybrid environment, both in person and virtually.
• Work is typically performed in a classroom.

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour.
