Electrical Designer I
Suburban Enterprises, Inc. offers an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Designer I to join our Design Department and contribute to impactful electrical construction projects.
Responsibilities- Design electrical construction drawings and specifications that meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements.
- Research and analyze intended product use and user preferences to inform design decisions.
- Ensure designs comply with company risk‑management and design standards.
- Review Revit, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam drawings from technicians to verify accuracy.
- Integrate green initiatives into the design process.
- Three (3) years’ experience with NFPA 70E, including:
- Performing branch circuit and service load calculations.
- Analyzing electrical equipment layouts for required working clearance.
- Selecting and sizing overcurrent protective devices, conductors, conduits, etc.
- Three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical design.
- Ability to understand and interpret electrical drawings (layouts, one‑line diagrams, panel schedules, photometrics).
- Familiarity with lighting design, controls, fixture selection, and photometric requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
- Three (3) years’ experience in electrical design within the MEP field.
- Electrical Journeyman’s and/or Master’s license.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, NEMA).
- Wisconsin designer’s license or willingness to obtain it.
