Our Senior Telecommunications Engineers work on various projects assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer, playing a role throughout the design process including preliminary assessments, concept creation, internal and external problem resolution, drawing and specification production, customer and vendor accessibility, being the EoR for designs, providing coverage for project leads, and, depending on bandwidth, leading projects. They will mentor other team members and ensure projects are completed on time.

As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you’ll provide technical design leadership of systems for data‑center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
  • Conduct site visits
  • Review technical documents
  • Learn from and mentor more senior team leaders
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
  • Mentor other team members
  • Work with the lead engineer and/or department manager to identify processes that make the department run more efficiently
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Self‑motivation and excellent project‑management skills
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs
  • Experience providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
  • Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules
  • Experience identifying and mitigating company risk
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required
Ideally you also have
  • 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio/visual, and wireless
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems
  • Thorough knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
  • Credential as an RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
