Steel Detailer

Overview

Neilsoft Canada is looking for an experienced Steel Detailer to join our growing team in Toronto. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in structural steel detailing using Tekla Structures, and a solid understanding of steel fabrication and erection standards.

Position: Steel Detailer

Location: Toronto, Canada (Onsite, Full-time)

Experience: Minimum 4 years

Qualification: BE (Civil)

• Prepare detailed 3D models of steel structures using Tekla Structures
• Generate accurate fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and reports
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce shop details
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders
• Ensure detailing work adheres to industry standards and project specifications
• Perform clash detection and resolve design issues proactively
• Support quality control and provide technical input during the fabrication process

• 5 to 10 years of experience in structural steel detailing
• Proficient in Tekla Structures (modeling, detailing, and reporting)
• Proficient in other 3D modelling software like SDS2 & Advance Steel is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of North American steel detailing standards (AISC, CISC)
• Good understanding of connections, steel fabrication, and erection practices
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with global teams

• Experience working with international clients or offshore teams
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection workflows
