Position Summary

The Collection Specialist I is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable from customers. This entry‑level position involves contacting customers to ensure timely payments and resolving any billing issues. The role offers best‑in‑class service and support to internal and external customers within our finance collections department. We’re looking for someone who possesses strong communication, results‑driven, problem‑solving, patient, and innovative thinking skills.

This position is located onsite in Appleton, WI.

Job Responsibilities
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or mail to collect outstanding payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities.
  • Assess and resolve billing issues and disputes in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile accounts.
  • Utilize problem‑solving skills to resolve customer questions and concerns.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment to handle a high volume of inbound calls.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Use sound judgment when making decisions and thinking through various scenarios.

  • Find a better way by championing continuous improvement and quality‑control efforts to identify opportunities to innovate and improve efficiency, accuracy, and standardization.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a HS Diploma/GED.
  • 0–1 year of related customer/collections service experience.
  • Effective communicator who understands the importance of listening and being empathetic.
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficient use of multiple software programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related order‑management systems.
  • Utilize out‑of‑the‑box thinking to problem‑solve with customers under diverse situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data (customer pricing, availability, etc.).
  • Ability to work and grow in a fast‑paced environment.
