Member Service Representative
Capital Credit Union invites applicants for the Member Service Representative role. The position supports the Credit Union’s mission by receiving members in person and by telephone and addressing their needs in consumer lending and new accounts. The role promotes products and services in a professional and effective manner.
Essential Responsibilities- Build financial relationships with members using a member advocacy approach.
- Educate members about Home Banking, E-Services, and other products; promote applicable Credit Union products and services suited to member needs, including consumer loans, debt protection, GAP, shares, share certificates, IRAs, credit cards, home banking, debit cards, and direct deposit.
- Maintain an effective working knowledge of technical aspects of the products and help members determine suitability.
- Accurately maintain and follow up on all types of accounts in the computer system.
- Interpret key documents and make decisions based on policies and member data.
- Correspond with members regarding eligibility requirements for accounts and loans and credit denials.
- Answer member questions and assist other employees with information about Credit Union products.
- Assist in preparing procedures and documentation for the position.
- Execute teller functions, including responsibility for a cash drawer, if required.
- Open or close the branch following all applicable procedures and policies, if required.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Read, write, and comprehend detailed and technical instructions, short correspondence, and memos; perform basic arithmetic skills as acquired from a high school education.
- Pass a federal criminal background check and be listed on the Federal Mortgage Loan Officer registry as required by The S.A.F.E. Act.
- Operate an online computer terminal, word processing, email, and adding machine; skills gained through a basic course or one to three months of on-the-job experience.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of products, services, and procedures needed to process transactions, typically gained in three to six months of on-the-job experience.
- Pay close attention to detail; maintain a high degree of accuracy for over fifty percent of work time.
- Use analytical ability to research and resolve member problems and determine the appropriate course of action.
- Possess interpersonal, communication, and listening skills to handle diverse members in stressful situations; demonstrate strong motivation and sales skills.
- Exercise independent judgment when addressing member concerns and support overall business objectives.
Physical Requirements
- Office environment with moderate noise.
- Frequent use of telephone, copier, computer, fax machine, and other office equipment.
- Prolonged sitting or standing.
- Frequent mental and visual concentration.
- Occasional travel for training, meetings, and assisting other branch locations.
