Production Supervisor - PSD at Miller Electric Mfg. LLC

In this leadership role, you’ll guide and inspire a team of production employees to achieve goals, drive efficiencies, and deliver results. You’ll play a key role in assigning and monitoring work, resolving challenges, and introducing improvements that make a real difference in operations. Beyond daily oversight, you’ll foster a safe and engaged workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and rewarded for their contributions.

You’ll also help develop talent, encourage collaboration, and champion ITW’s culture and values—ensuring they are woven into everyday practices while advancing productivity, quality, and cost performance.

Essential Functions
  • Coach and develop work teams to have positive and proactive attitudes, personal accountability, and superior manufacturing quality as well as encouraging ownership of operations, products, and processes.
  • Lead safety, cost, quality, delivery, and productivity initiatives through employee involvement and drive ITW principles and 80/20 efforts.
  • Build employee relationships through daily, open, and direct communication while empowering teams to achieve manufacturing goals.
  • Be visible and approachable, creating an environment of trust and followership.
  • Promote an engaged and safe workplace environment and foster a safety-first mindset where employees have accountability for self and others.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to maintain and improve the manufacturing environment in response to changing customer needs, facilitating area layout, processing plans, and equipment selection to simplify and focus manufacturing processes.
  • Drive customer service within all areas of the department.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels and train employees to resolve conflict in a fair, consistent, and empowered manner within a team environment.
  • Develop & support Line Leaders and assess team members’ performance and goals regularly, encouraging achievement of effective goals.
  • Assist/support teams in the utilization of all available resources.
  • Participate in committees/teams as required and provide reports on critical information.
  • Understand how the factory production system develops and fulfills products.
  • Build a network of inter-company peers and subject matter experts for consultation on best practices for managing people and for system/process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with support staff and Human Resources and maintain key contacts with Miller businesses to identify resources that improve cost, quality, and delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to maintain a strong culture while evolving with organizational, workforce demographic, and market changes.
  • Ability to lead and work through others to build credibility and followership.
  • Business acumen, including understanding of financial operations and supply chain leverage.
  • Proven experience leading a team in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Proven ability to apply lean manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the P&L statement and manufacturing cost drivers.
  • Skilled at performance management with formal and informal feedback to employees.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork, with accountability, coaching, listening, and timely issue resolution.
  • Encouragement of diverse ideas, coaching/developing strengths, and facilitating effective communication between shifts.
  • Customer-focused collaboration with management, support staff, customers, and suppliers; understanding how business functions link to support the customer (engineering, materials, sales).
  • Strong computer, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuing education and self-development.
  • Experience driving employee involvement/engagement and encouraging creativity.
