Metal Finisher - 2nd Shift ($24.61/hr+) at Pierce Manufacturing
Join our team in helping build truck bodies and performing metal finishing duties on the 2nd shift.
Benefits- Competitive Pay – minimum starting rate $24.61 per hour, with 2nd & 3rd shift premium $2.00/hour, early weekend premium $5.00/hour, weekend shift $6.50/hour.

- 2nd shift:
Monday–Thursday, four 10‑hour days, overtime on shift end and Fridays (occasionally Saturdays). - 3rd shift:
Sunday–Thursday, five 8‑hour days, overtime before shift start and Fridays, occasional Saturdays. - Early Weekend shift:
Thursday–Saturday, 12‑hour days, average 130 work days per year. - Weekend shift:
Friday–Sunday, 12‑hour days, average 130 work days per year.
The Metal Finisher performs general labor duties, including preparing parts for painting by sanding and taping. Use of hand tools, maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Disassemble truck parts.
- Grind and sand surfaces of parts, cabs, and bodies.
- Perform quality checks of work.
- Communicate safely with co‑workers.
- Lift light or heavy parts on/off cart.
- Use basic hand tools to prep work for painting.
- Move equipment and parts with cart.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Hang or unhanging parts.
- Assist co‑workers with lifting parts.
- Record inventory of parts.
- Assist with sanding, caulking, and taping for painting.
- Understand parts and tools differences.
- Use computer to locate parts.
- Sweep, paint, and clean shop area.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Review daily paperwork.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Operate materials cart or forklift to transport parts.
- General knowledge of hand tools.
- Willingness to learn.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months experience in manufacturing or equivalent.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Perform all tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Strong interpersonal communication.
- Recognize abnormal operating conditions.
- Use and wear PPE.
- Hear safety alarms.
- Follow instructions from supervisors.
- Identify safety issues.
- Maintain balance on slippery work floor.
- Maintain balance on steps, ladders, trucks.
- Lift and manipulate up to 75 lbs.
- Tolerate constant standing and awkward positions.
- Good hand‑eye coordination.
- Operate heavy equipment safely.
- Remember task sequence and safety constraints.
