Position SummaryWe are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Quality Assurance Technician to serve as a vital link between the lab and the production floor at our frozen appetizer manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all food products meet company and regulatory standards for safety, quality, and consistency. The QA Technician will support daily production operations through active in‑plant monitoring, testing, and documentation, while also performing laboratory analysis to verify that products meet established specifications.
The ideal candidate thrives in both environments—comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and in a controlled lab setting—and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of product integrity.
- Perform routine in‑process and finished product inspections to verify quality, food safety, and compliance with customer and regulatory standards (USDA, FDA, SQF, HACCP).
- Conduct and document lab testing for pH, moisture, temperature, weight, texture, and microbiological indicators as needed.
- Collect and label product samples for retention, shelf‑life studies, and external lab testing.
- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Critical Quality Points (CQPs) to ensure continuous compliance.
- Partner closely with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to communicate findings, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Verify ingredient and packaging materials against approved specifications before use.
- Support and audit Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and hygiene compliance throughout the facility.
- Maintain accurate and timely QA records, including batch data, deviations, and corrective action reports.
- Participate in internal audits, mock recalls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in training operators and new employees on quality standards and food safety procedures.
- Contribute to special projects such as process validation, line start‑up checks, and product launches.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience accepted.
- 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or laboratory testing (frozen or ready-to‑eat food experience a plus).
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.
- Comfortable working in both production and lab environments, including cold/freezer areas.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
- Proficient in data entry, reporting, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts depending on production schedules.
