Bar Operator - 2nd Shift ($26.42+/hr) – Pierce Manufacturing – Appleton, WI
Shift Overview- 2nd shift – Monday to Thursday, four 10‑hour days.
- Overtime may be required at the end of shift and on Friday/Saturday.
Job Description
The Bar Operator (Machine Operator I) is responsible for checking job sheets, setting up machines, operating various machines, reading blueprints, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Functions- Communicate verbally with co‑workers to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate a variety of machines (mills, lathes, saws, punches, tube benders).
- Set up and prepare parts for cutting and milling operations.
- Use computer for machine set‑up.
- Load/unload materials into machines and equipment.
- Read and apply measurements to parts and equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and routing paperwork.
- Lift light and/heavy parts; use cart to move equipment.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
- Assist co‑workers with lifting parts.
- Sweep and clean shop area.
- Work overtime and rotate jobs as needed.
- Grinding, buffing, drilling, bending materials.
- Assist in inventory of parts.
- Operate materials cart or forklift to transport truck parts.
- Participate in rotation of operating machines.
- 1+ year of relevant experience OR high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with basic hand tools.
- Metal fabrication experience.
- Previous experience with Pierce as a team member or contractor.
- Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions.
- Use and wear personal protective equipment.
- Basic counting and measurement skills.
- Ability to lift and manipulate parts up to 50 lbs, use overhead hoist if needed.
- Maintain balance on slippery floors and portable steps.

- Competitive pay – starting $24.42–$26.02 per hour, with $2.00 shift premium.
