Shift: 1st (6:00AM-4:30PM, Monday
- Thursday, 10 hours)
Prepares substrate surfaces on fabricated metal piping, tanks, and other structures for coating by pressure blasting.
Summary of Major Responsibilities / Duties- Abrasive blasting of pipe, structural steel, and machined parts
- Masking/taping and capping of pipe spools
- Light maintenance of blast equipment
- Fill out necessary paperwork for each piece, making sure it stays with the material as it goes from blast to paint
- Upkeep of helmet, cape, and belts as they are used
- Keep finished material organized in the prep area
- Ability to be trained on a forklift, tug, overhead crane, and tractor
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Cleaning and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE’s).
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
- Conducts work safely and follows all safety procedures. Rejects work that is not safe and discusses the situation with supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or up to one-month experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine paperwork.
