Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Summary:
Assembly Repair Mechanic are responsible for completing scheduled and routine maintenance work along with performing many other duties. Duties include, but are not restricted to, preventative/predictive maintenance, tearing down rotating assemblies, diagnosing failure, and writing up reports. Assembling machines/rotating assemblies once all parts are fixed back to OEM condition.
Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints, drawings, measure for bearing clearance and shaft diameters using inside/outside mics, and Romer Arm.
- Dismantle machines as needed.
- Move and align machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Utilize hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
- Operate cranes and forklifts.
- Use large bearing pullers, torches, and light TIG welding.
- Install machinery; new and existing equipment, mill site if needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Flexibility to work any shifts to meet mill needs.
- Continue to develop skills to become a multi-skill mechanic (including millwright, welding, and other fields as needed).
- Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, and heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and protection).
- Personally exhibit safety as a core value and effectively communicate a shared vision for safety.
- Represent both company policy and direction.
- Develop knowledge of department and mill operations processes, equipment, and systems.
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work effectively alone or within a team.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Analyze problems and develop solutions independently or with teams.
- Basic computer skills.
- Make timely and effective decisions.
