JOB SUMMARY:

The Precision Metal Fabricator/Machinist plays a critical role in manufacturing high-quality metal components with exacting standards. This position involves interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to fabricate, assemble, and finish metal parts using various machining tools and techniques. The successful candidate will ensure that all fabricated parts meet precise specifications and quality standards, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of production operations.

Attention to detail and commitment to safety are paramount, as the role requires working with complex machinery and materials. Ultimately, this role supports the creation of durable, precise metal products that meet industry requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drills to fabricate metal parts.
  • Measure and inspect finished products using precision instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Weld stainless steel metals for fabrication of high-quality machine parts and/or machines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams on R&D projects.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment status to support maintenance documentation and reporting
  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical failures or wear, recommending and implementing effective repair solutions
Skills:

The required skills enable the machinist to accurately interpret complex technical drawings and translate them into precise metal components using manual machinery. Proficiency with precision measuring tools ensures that all fabricated parts meet stringent quality standards, minimizing errors and waste. Welding and finishing skills allow for versatility in handling various fabrication tasks beyond machining alone. Strong problem-solving and communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineering and production teams to address challenges and improve manufacturing processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or vocational training program in metal fabrication or machining.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Certification in welding (e.g., "AWS Certified Welder") or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree or certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of welding and metal finishing techniques.
  • Understanding quality control processes.
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
