Dixon Ticonderoga Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician at our North America headquarters in Appleton, WI. The Dixon Ticonderoga Company portfolio includes trusted brands across art and education products, including the iconic Ticonderoga #2 pencil, and serves both School Distributors and Retail Markets.

Reporting to the Quality & Compliance Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting product quality and compliance through testing, certification, data collection, and consumer communication. This role will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure our products meet regulatory standards and customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct XRF (X-ray fluorescence) testing to ensure material compliance and safety.
  • Coordinate drop and shipping tests to validate packaging durability and product integrity.
  • Perform product quality checks at the Distribution Center (DC) to maintain consistency and standards.
  • Assist in submission of products to testing agencies.
Compliance & Certification
  • Obtain and file product certifications with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to ensure regulatory compliance.
Data Collection & Reporting
  • Collect and organize product data for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting and other regulatory needs.
Consumer & Customer Communication
  • Draft and manage external messaging related to product quality and safety.
  • Respond to consumer and customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Maintain and update FAQs for Consumer Services to ensure consistent and helpful information is available.
  • Send existing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Child Product Certificates (CPC) responses as needed to support compliance and transparency.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.
Education And Experience Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in a related field (e.g., manufacturing, quality systems, or engineering technology) preferred.
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • Experience with XRF testing and familiarity with product compliance standards preferred.
  • Understanding of CPSC certification processes is a plus.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g. , Asana, Trello) is beneficial.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and consumer product documentation is a plus.
Other
  • This role requires flexibility of work times as key responsibilities may need to be performed across different production shifts.
  • Required to operate forklifts with proper training from the Company.
