Head Men’s Soccer Coach – Lawrence University
Lawrence University seeks an inspiring and forward-thinking Head Men’s Soccer Coach to lead the program into its next chapter. The ideal candidate will bring vision, energy, and a student‑first approach, elevating the program and making a lasting difference for our student‑athletes.
Department: Athletics Job Status: Full‑Time (12‑month position)
Reports To: Director of Soccer and Director of Athletics
- Recruit and retain student‑athletes who are academically and athletically prepared to thrive at Lawrence University.
- Abide by the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Midwest Conference, and Lawrence University.
- Plan, communicate, and execute all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III soccer program.
- Organize and conduct effective practice sessions, promoting player safety, fundamentals, and team development.
- Oversee the academic progress of student‑athletes, assist with graduation plans, and monitor progress reports throughout the year.
- Work with the Director of Athletics on scheduling.
- Prepare a zero‑based operational budget annually and maintain fiscal accountability.
- Work with the Compliance Director on eligibility and compliance regulations.
- Stay current on university rules and policies.
- Order equipment and supplies in accordance with department and university policy.
- Maintain an inventory of university‑owned equipment and uniforms, issuing and retrieving them as needed.
- Pursue professional growth by attending clinics, workshops, and other development opportunities.
- Coordinate with the Sports Information Director regarding team pictures, publicity, and statistics.
- Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine representative as needed.
- Arrange team travel, including reservations for vehicles, hotels, and meals, well in advance.
- Complete travel arrangements and provide timely communication regarding travels and absences.
- Work with alumni, student groups, university administration, and community groups to seek support for the team.
- Assist with game‑day management of the sport.
- Assume any additional duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- 3–5 years of successful collegiate coaching experience.
- Established recruiting base.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - First‑aid and AED certification prior to conducting athletics‑related activities.
- Successful completion of criminal and MVR background checks, meeting the University Authorized Driver Policy, and favorable reference checks.
