We are recruiting an experienced Service Manager to lead an innovative mental health and wellbeing service based in Arbroath.
The service provides a welcoming, compassionate response to adults aged 16+ experiencing emotional distress and mental health challenges. This is a fast-paced, person-centred environment where no two days are the same.
The service operates daily 12pm 12am, with some evening and weekend work required, and includes three key elements:
- Community Wellbeing Centre (7 days) – Crisis support and interventions delivered face-to-face, by phone, social media, video and email
- Distress Brief Interventions (DBI) – Training for first responders and direct support for individuals in high distress
- Suicide Prevention – Community activity and direct support for people experiencing suicidal thoughts and those affected by suicide
As Service Manager, you will provide professional, inspirational leadership and oversee the day-to-day management and development of the service and team.
You will lead a diverse workforce, embedding a collaborative, inclusive and trauma-informed culture while ensuring high-quality, outcome-focused support for the people we serve.
You will also participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, providing emergency advice and management support when required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership, guidance and operational management to the staff team
- Support service development and continuous improvement
- Manage staffing resources to ensure safe and effective service delivery
- Oversee recruitment, induction, probation, attendance and performance management
- Lead on staff development, supervision and capability building
- Support outcome planning, assessment, risk assessment and review processes
- Ensure rights-based, person-centred practice is embedded
- Monitor regulatory and contractual compliance
- Manage records, confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Lead referral processes and stakeholder liaison
- Undertake audits, investigations and service reviews
- Produce monitoring and performance reports for commissioners
- Develop partnerships with local agencies and stakeholders
- Promote organisational values, best practice and service visibility locally
We are looking for a motivated leader with a strong background in mental health and wellbeing services.
Essential Experience & Skills- Proven experience working with mental health and wellbeing service user groups
- Strong understanding of outcome-focused support approaches
- Knowledge of suicide prevention and intervention strategies
- Experience leading and developing teams
- Ability to manage staff performance, attendance and conduct
- Experience in assessment, risk management and review processes
- Ability to influence and embed best practice
- Understanding of national and local mental health policy frameworks
- Experience producing monitoring reports and working with commissioners
- Relevant qualification in line with SSSC requirements (SVQ Level
4) or willingness to achieve - Willingness to undertake management training
- Ability to register with the SSSC and meet ongoing registration requirements
