Support Worker, Direct Support Professional​/ Direct Care

Main Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred support that promotes dignity, choice and independence.
• Support the people we support with daily living activities, personal care where required and achieving their individual goals.
• Encourage independence, confidence and active participation in everyday life, hobbies and community activities.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with the people we support, their families and colleagues.
• Monitor the wellbeing of the people we support and report any concerns or changes to an appropriate senior colleague.
• Maintain accurate support records and complete required documentation.
• Follow individual support plans and risk assessments to ensure safe, consistent and high-quality support.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and healthcare professionals to deliver person-centred support.
• Follow infection prevention and control, health and safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment throughout the service.

What We're Looking For

• SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards this qualification.
• A caring, compassionate and respectful approach to supporting others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred support.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and night shifts.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.

Previous experience supporting adults with learning disabilities or in a similar care or support role would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

This role requires PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to obtain), SSSC registration (or willingness to obtain) and satisfactory references in line with Safer Recruitment guidance.
