Assistant Operations Manager

Location: Arbroath

Pay: £20.97 per hour

Working Hours: 36.25 hours per week. Flexible working hours between 7:00am - 7:00pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary 2 Months Initially

Blue Arrow is currently recruiting for an Assistant Operations Manager on behalf of our client based in Arbroath. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor or manager to join a busy Waste Operations team on a temporary basis for approximately two months. The role supports the day-to-day management of waste services, ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and in line with service standards.

Based on the attached job outline and person specification.

• Support the day-to-day operational management of waste services.
• Monitor service performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Deputise for the Team Leader when required.
• Assist with budget management, purchasing, and resource planning.
• Support health and safety compliance across the operation.
• Organise team briefings, depot meetings, and workforce communications.
• Assist with staff management, attendance monitoring, recruitment, training, and development.
• Support fleet management activities and compliance with driver regulations.
• Investigate incidents, insurance claims, and service-related issues as required.

• Previous experience managing or supervising staff.
• Strong organisational, communication, and administration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience working within a fast-paced operational environment.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and make informed decisions.

• Experience with in waste management, environmental services, fleet management, or similar operational environments.
• Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH).
