We are looking for a motivated Production Planner with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to planning and organisation. In this role, you will help ensure our production runs smoothly and efficiently, meeting customers demand while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety. You will work closely with Production, Purchasing, and Commercial teams to create and manage accurate production schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Operate in line with business goals, objectives, technical parameters and safety policy.
- Create and maintain daily and weekly plans and schedules of production lines and work stations.
- Plan and schedule all raw material requirements.
- Liaise closely with all department managers to gather production updates and identify all threats to the plan and help devise solutions.
- Ensure planned production achieves the most cost‑effective utilization of time, labour, materials and packaging.
- Communicate timely and effectively to production teams of promotions and any product changes.
- Balance, control and management of all inventory (finished goods/raw/WIP).
- Maintain and update all data as required in Planning files and schedules.
- Attend meetings as required, taking accurate notes and relaying relevant information back to Planning team.
- Identify and progress any cost saving opportunities.
- Disseminate data and information as required, updating all internal customers and group sites as required.
- Facilitate the day‑to‑day running of all Planning activities.
- Stand in for other members of the Planning team as and when required.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who understands the realities of a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment and can balance competing priorities.
Qualifications & Skills- Experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain coordination within a food manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Flexible with "can‑do" attitude, enjoying working in a collaborative fast‑paced environment.
- Good Microsoft Office knowledge – Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes, lead times, and operational constraints.
- A practical, proactive and solutions‑focused approach with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to negotiate and communicate timely and effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- High attention to detail and good problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise and escalat eissues in a timely manner.
- Understanding and analysing performance data.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (experience with customer specification is an advantage).
