Overview
The Community College of Baltimore County seeks an individual to teach manufacturing‑related courses and foundational engineering technology courses. Preferred candidates possess breadth of knowledge in machining, manufacturing, engineering technology, blueprint reading, and 3D CAD design. The position may involve teaching at multiple campuses and local high schools during evenings or weekends.
QualificationsAssociate’s degree in industrial design, digital fabrication, advanced manufacturing, engineering technology, architecture, product design, art and design technology, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience operating and maintaining industry‑standard hand tools, power tools, and digital fabrication equipment, mills, lathes, and grinders is required. Demonstrated ability to teach advanced manufacturing topics incl. 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC technology, 3D CAD design, and blueprints/schematics preferred.
Responsibilities- Teach a full load of instruction in Fall and Spring semesters, including college and community service, student advising, departmental support, and ongoing professional development.
- Develop and provide clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology‑based instruction.
- Meet all assigned classes during instructional periods.
- Communicate effectively with students by providing syllabi, academic policies, and responding to e‑mail and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Adhere to required office hours per CCBC policy.
- Contribute to curricula and program development, including online courses.
- Provide effective assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.
- Maintain instructional materials, student work, and Learning Management System (e.g., Brightspace). Provide students access to syllabi, grades, and supplemental course material.
- Collaborate with four‑year educational and industry partners to ensure curriculum alignment with transfer institutions and workforce development needs.
- Support students and other college units while complying with relevant state and federal laws.
- Collaborate on curricular development, content updates, assessment practices, and record keeping.
- Complete and submit reports and documentation in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in committees, departmental, college, and school meetings.
- Provide college and community service through collegial and individual initiatives.
- Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.
