The Therapeutic Mentoring Program

The Therapeutic Mentoring Program is seeking adults, ages 21 and over, to mentor youth receiving mental health services. Founded in 1998, this program matches youth, ages 9 to 17, with adult mentors. Currently, there is a need for some mentors to mentor youth receiving services through our outpatient mental health clinic located in the Lansdowne community of Baltimore City and County.

All mentors receive orientation and training and are supported throughout the duration of the match by the Mentor Coordinator and child s treatment team. By being a special visitor, a positive role model, and a consistent person in your mentee s life you can make an impact. Mentors visit once a week, work one-to-one with their mentee and enjoy activities together in the community.

• Mentor youth receiving mental health services on a regular, one-to-one basis.
• Engage in community activities with the mentee and provide positive guidance and support.
• Coordinate with the Mentor Coordinator and the child s treatment team to monitor progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

• Adults aged 21 or older.
• Ability to commit to a regular schedule (weekly visits).
• Willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
