The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking outstanding applicants to fill an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position in the Division of Pulmonology/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.
The APP will work with attending physicians to provide pulmonary and critical care consultation and follow up services in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The APP will also care for pulmonary patients who are admitted to the hospital due to complications of their disorder, complications of their treatment or palliative care.
Common conditions include asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, acute and chronic respiratory failure, pneumonia, pleural effusions, hypoxemia, hypercapnia, and other lung diseases.
Responsibilities- Complete a comprehensive history and physical examination.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies.
- Prescribe appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Consult with specialist physicians and other team members regarding patient findings and changes in patient condition.
- Coordinate care with the patient and other providers.
- Initiate and adjust treatment in collaboration with the physician and ensure longitudinal communications with primary and referring providers regarding patient status.
- Possession of current certificate of completion from an Advanced Practice Provider program.
- Current and valid California State RN and/or Advanced Practice Provider licenses.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Pulmonology experience preferred.
