General Description:
The Minister of Students will provide strategic oversight and organizational leadership from (birth-age 30) which includes Calvary Baptist Church Preschool, Kids, Students and College, This servant leader will actively champion and passionately model effective hands‑on ministry to the students and their families, and successfully replicate the Meet, Know, Serve and Share mindset and skillset to the staff and volunteers that he leads.
This role will be a split role focusing 75% of time on the Youth and Children and 25% of time on College and Family ministry responsibilities.
The position is a member of the executive pastoral leadership team, Church Council and is accountable to and reports directly to the Lead Pastor. The Minister of Students is directly responsible for and leads the heads of Preschool, Kids, Students and College Ministries.

- The Minister of Students is the “guardian of the DNA” for Calvary Baptist Church family ministry. He will define and protect an overarching purpose and strategy so that all age groups are working toward a common goal.
- Competing interests within the family ministry at Calvary Baptist Church puts stress on parents and can create confusion. The Minister of Students will inspire staff and volunteers to avoid age- group silos. This requires being in the same room at the same time on a regular basis to develop goals and strategies.
- The Minister of Students must lead up to champion student ministry to senior leadership and cast vision down to all members of the team. They need to have a heart for leadership development and the skills to supervise and manage people, i.e. Student Leadership Program/Youth Council would be a way to implement leadership for the next level.
- Any role focused on all age groups must naturally need to also focus on the entire family. This doesn’t just mean kids—it means their parents, too. Aligning the Minister of Students ministry means partnering with families to help them succeed.
75% of time on Student and Children Ministry:
- Lead and cast vision for Youth in our church and community.
- Ensure the student ministry is winning at making disciples who make disciples;
- Provide teaching and training to equip the young adult ministry and leaders;
- Create clear on-ramps for our groups to help student get connected in an intergenerational relationship;
- Train and nurture volunteer leaders to engage and equip youth to become both disciples and disciple-makers who are following Christ, being changed by Christ, and committed to the mission of Christ;
- Create clear on-ramps for students to serve and lead within the body of the church;
- Provide overall directional leadership, vision and strategy for reaching students.
- Overall leader of the student ministry including continuous oversight of daily tasks/duties, team meetings, trainings, and events planned;
- Responsible for timely coaching and feedback for leaders;
- Prepare and maintain annual budgets for the student Ministry;
- Evaluate all student ministry activities and implement approved and recommended changes and/or improvements as needed;
- Lead a weekly community student worship experience.
- Represent and advocate for each facet of nursery and children ministry at executive pastoral staff meetings;
- Implement a consistent Nursery and Children meeting to develop, implement, evaluate, and align goals and strategies for achieving the Meet, Know, Serve and Share vision;
