Educational Sign Language Interpreter job at Birch Agency. Arcadia, FL.

Seeking to hire an Educational American Sign Language Interpreter. This is a full-time contract and must be fluent in American Sign Language Interpreter.

• Associates degree of deaf education, or classroom interpreting or similar or a EIPA score of 3.5
  OR
• Child of a Deaf Adult;
  Child;
  
  Family member;
  AND
• Fluent in English - American Sign Language Interpreting

• Experienced with classroom interpreting Provide sign language interpretive services as specified in the IEP.
• Interpret information, lectures, discussion, classroom activities, school meetings, trainings, and conferences.
• Adapts interpretations to the varying and diverse needs and abilities of students, and/or teachers and staff.
• Understands the educational and learning challenges a deaf or hard of hearing students faces on a daily basis.
• Communicate directly with student and peers.
• Prepare and study subject matter being taught or presented to ensure clear interpretation.
• Interprets informal conversations with students and staff during unstructured time.
• Participate as a team member for planning and reviewing daily activities, attending in-services and information sharing for the purpose of optimizing the staff and student participation in the educational environment.
• Provide staff with information regarding the interpretation process as well as needs and concerns of individuals who are Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teachers for the purpose of creating a positive Deaf friendly climate.
• Collaborate with Teachers of the D/HH, other classroom teachers and other school staff to provide the optimum educational opportunities.

Pay:
Starting at 30 per or based on experience.
