PositionSummary
The Auto Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing A+ Environmental Restoration’s diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment. This includes light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, vacuum trucks, and other specialized machinery. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to safety and reliability in all repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ensure all repairs meet company quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection logs.
- Assist in the development and upkeep of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA standards.
- Respond to field service calls and support crews with emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and yard.
- Communicate effectively with Shop/Fleet Manager and field supervisors regarding equipment status.
- Support company goals and promote a safety-first culture.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in automotive or diesel repair preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an auto or diesel mechanic preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
- ASE certifications or equivalent manufacturer training preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and preventive maintenance programs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Work performed in both shop and field environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical repair tasks.
- Exposure to varying outdoor conditions.
- Occasional overtime and on-call hours may be required.
