The Dance, Music, and Theatre department offers the following concentrations and degree options:
The department offers a BA degree with Concentrations in Music Studies, Composition, Performance, and Music Education. We teach piano, voice, guitar, and all orchestral instruments. Ensembles include Choirs, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Humboldt Symphony, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Combos, and Chamber Ensembles. The department offers a BA degree in Theatre Arts, as well as a Minor. See the Theatre Program website for more information:/
Courses/Areas of SpecializationDance courses offered by the department include Modern, Ballet, Jazz, African Dance, Tap Dance, Dance Science, Choreography, Mexican Folklórico, Middle Eastern Dance and more.
Music courses offered by the department include Listening to the Movies, Music Appreciation, Ensembles, studio lessons, Music Theory, Ear Training, Music in World Culture, Music History, and others.
Theatre courses offered by the department include Storytelling, Design and Production, Performance, History and Theory, and more.
Degree
:
B.A. in appropriate field is required
. An earned M.F.A. in an appropriate field will be given preference.
Experience
:
Successful teaching experience at the college level and/or professional work experience related to the appropriate field is required
. Preference will be given to those who can provide evidence of teaching effectiveness via evaluation of supervisors or colleagues, the ability to work within the program and stated goals of the Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre.
The minimum qualification to teach any of the courses listed below is a Master’s degree, with preference given to applicants with a Doctorate. All other courses offered in Music require a Bachelor’s degree.

Degree
: M.A. in appropriate field is generally required
, however B.A. plus teaching experience will be considered for select courses. Please check with the department regarding availability of those courses.
Preference will be given to candidates holding a M.F.A. or Ph.D. in the appropriate field.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
The full-time (15 weighted teaching units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules below are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six (6) monthly payments for each full semester.
