(Job # 552742) Confidential Administrative Support II, Academic Personnel Specialist, Salary Range: $4,687 - $11,223/month, Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,687 - $4,921/month.
Final salary placement is commensurate with experience, internal equity, and budget considerations. This is a full‑time, benefited, exempt, 12‑month pay plan, permanent position with a two‑year probationary period in Academic Personnel Services. This position comes with a premium benefits package that includes outstanding vacation, medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, voluntary pre‑tax health and dependent care reimbursement accounts, a fee waiver education program, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and 14 paid holidays per year.

Position Summary: Under general supervision of the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and the Academic Personnel Services Manager, the Academic Personnel Specialist provides support for the implementation and enforcement of the Unit #3 Collective Bargaining Agreement for Faculty Employees, with emphasis on independently providing oversight and management of Retention, Tenure and Promotion procedures.

The Academic Personnel Specialist serves as the main campus support to department IUPCs, college personnel committees, deans, and probationary faculty members, and provides support to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, as needed.

This position also provides support for temporary faculty employee and Unit 11 Academic Student Employee processes as needed.

Key Responsibilities: Duties will include providing technical support to faculty who are creating periodic evaluation files for review, ensuring that questions about file building and composition are answered in a timely and accurate manner, and referring questions to the AVP for Faculty Affairs as appropriate. The APS Specialist will create and maintain the spreadsheets used to track probationary faculty evaluations, post‑tenure review, and promotion of tenured faculty, as well as personnel committee spreadsheets and listservs.

This position will provide training to department personnel committees regarding their responsibilities at various points in the evaluation process and create and provide reports regarding RTP files to campus entities such as the University Faculty Personnel Committee. In collaboration with the University Senate Office Coordinator, the APS Specialist will ensure that current RTP Criteria & Standards are posted to the APS website.

This position will provide lead oversight and maintenance of the paf email, and all faculty personnel action files (PAFs).
