The Computer Science Department at Cal Poly Humboldt offers two degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering. Both are distinguished by an emphasis on computational thinking, active learning, and working within a collaborative environment. We present students with a broad core program experience augmented by opportunities to enjoy stimulating electives, study abroad, and gainful employment and experience through internships.

Career opportunities in Computer Science and Software Engineering are plentiful. Our interns and graduates choose among jobs in government, education, business, and service organizations where they work in teams with scientists, social scientists, executives, doctors, lawyers, and more.

Courses/Areas of Specialization:
Courses offered by the department, which may be available for new lecturers during 2024-25, include Data Structures, Algorithms, Python Programming, Introduction to Linux, Software Project Management, Database Design, Web-apps using Databases, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and more.

B.A./B.S. or equivalent and 3 years of related experience is required. Successful applicants will also have demonstrated successful teaching experience and/or recent professional training experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a completed M.A./M.S. in a related discipline, and two years of successful college teaching in a related field.

First Review Date: Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges. Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
