The Maintenance Mechanic will support comprehensive industrial and mechanical projects across the facility. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will apply technical expertise, precision, and sound judgment to ensure equipment is properly positioned, safely operated, and effectively maintained. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret complex technical information, and proficiency with specialized tools and machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Safely move, install, and relocate equipment manually or using approved lifting equipment.
- Utilize a wide range of hand tools, precision measuring tools, and cutting/welding equipment to complete work assignments.
- Review, interpret, and follow complex technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
- Apply professional judgment to determine appropriate tools, equipment, and methods for assigned tasks.
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment for machinery installation and movement.
- Diagnose equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Mechanics, Electricians, and other team members to install, troubleshoot, and repair machinery.
- Work with CAD drawings and related software to support project planning and equipment layout.
- Read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Attend internal and external training programs as required.
- Work scheduled hours as well as occasional unscheduled/after-hours work based on operational needs.
- Consistently follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
- Provide input and recommendations related to machinery improvements, reliability, and safety enhancements.
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities as required.
- Broad and thorough understanding of industrial machinery, tools, and mechanical systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem‑solving abilities.
- High school diploma required.
- Vocational training or an Associate’s degree in a related technical field highly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of industrial or mechanical experience required; completion of a four‑year apprenticeship program strongly preferred.
- Prolonged standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Adequate visual acuity for inspecting, aligning, and adjusting complex machinery components.
- Manual dexterity required to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate machinery and components.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel‑toe boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, as required per safety guidelines.
