About the RoleJoin our Research & Development team for a unique opportunity to design and implement innovative ASIC technologies that power life‑saving medical devices. This role involves applying hands‑on problem‑solving skills to deliver impactful solutions that improve patient outcomes and clinician experiences across various product lines.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, debug, modify, and test complex analog and/or digital ASIC blocks and systems using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
- Define system and subsystem requirements, make architectural trade‑offs, and develop micro‑architecture specifications based on performance, power, and feature requirements.
- Design and implement logic using hardware description languages (e.g., Verilog, System Verilog).
- Collaborate with verification teams, perform simulations, and conduct formal verification (RTL to Netlist) to ensure designs meet performance and reliability standards.
- Interface with physical design and layout teams, providing guidance and support to ensure designs are tape‑out ready.
- Execute lab‑based testing and characterization of silicon (chip bring‑up), troubleshoot issues, and perform failure analysis.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation including schematics, design specifications, requirements, test protocols/reports, and change requests in alignment with the Quality System (e.g., JIRA, Windchill).
- Work cooperatively within cross‑functional teams (Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Marketing) to ensure project success.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to technicians and junior engineers, and potentially lead project activities or defined work packages.
- Investigate, research, and select electronic circuits/components using best practices, contributing to the expansion of the company's Intellectual Property portfolio.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years with a Bachelor's or 3+ years with a Master's of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in ASIC design.
- Proficiency in hardware description languages (e.g., Verilog) and logic simulation tools.
- Hands‑on lab experience using standard electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.) for testing and debugging.
- Experience with change management and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Accu Rev).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an ability to make data‑based design decisions.
- Familiarity with all aspects of the ASIC design flow, including synthesis, timing analysis, and formal verification.
- Experience in the medical device industry or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python or Perl for test automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of analog circuit design and mixed‑signal ASICs.
- Understanding of industry standards for medical devices and electronic systems (e.g., ISO).
