Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated and creative Mechanical Engineer within our Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group.
This role will be responsible for the mechanical design and testing of components and systems to support the development of novel sensor technology and associated devices for the treatment of heart failure.
The AIS group includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient’s entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients.
Work model, sponsorship, relocationThis role follows an on‑site work model. Employees are expected to work from our Arden Hills, MN office at least four days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.
This role will- Design mechanical components and systems for active implantable products.
- Engage hands‑on with the project team, managing multiple technical streams and prioritizing tasks.
- Interface with physicians and customers to gather product and design feedback.
- Develop requirements and specifications, conduct pre‑clinical animal and bench studies, and generate comprehensive engineering documentation.
- Create and refine test methods for verification and validation.
- Design, procure, and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures.
- Conduct characterization and formal verification testing.
- Perform engineering analyses (force/stress/strain, failure mode, tolerance, material, reliability, etc.).
- Support and participate in technical reviews.
- Troubleshoot new products and process‑related issues.
- Generate new concepts, submit invention disclosures, and contribute to intellectual property.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners across marketing, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, and process development.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Bring a minimum of 6 months’ related work or internship experience.
- Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills.
- Hold a master’s degree in a related technical field.
- Bring experience with Class II or Class III medical device product development.
- Use Solid Works for design and modeling.
- Apply experimental design and statistical analysis methods.
- Build and test prototypes using various fabrication techniques.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
Requisition
Minimum Salary: $58,200
Maximum Salary: $110,500
