Technical Designer
Location: Arden Hills, MN
Pay Rate: $36.02/hour
Schedule: Hybrid Schedule (3 days onsite) 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Designer to support mechanical design and product development efforts. This role is ideal for a collaborative designer who is eager to learn, comfortable asking questions, and capable of translating engineering concepts into complex CAD models. Under general supervision, you will work from engineering notes, sketches, and verbal instructions to develop high-quality mechanical designs that support manufacturing and product performance.
Key Responsibilities- Design and modify complex mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works.
- Create detailed CAD models and drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and verbal direction.
- Determine design characteristics including packaging, control panels, functional configuration, and structural elements.
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, materials availability, tooling requirements, serviceability, and interchangeability.
- Conduct design research using technical handbooks, catalogs, and standard component libraries.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and other internal teams impacted by design changes.
- Support Engineering Services Document Control by updating CAD documentation tied to change requests.
- Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instruction s.
- Maintain strict adherence to quality system requirements, with a strong focus on patient safety and product quality.
- 1-2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or technical design.
- Associate degree, Technical Certificate, or Mechanical Drafting & Design Certificate (or similar).
- Certified Solid Works user.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively and independently.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a technical design environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD modeling.
- Ability to apply technical concepts to real-world product and system designs.
- Experience troubleshooting design challenges and proposing improvements.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and sound judgment in project work.
- Ability to manage complex assignments with minimal supervision.
