This is a task-oriented design role
, not an engineering position. This position does not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future; candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident (Green Card holder) to be eligible.
Under supervision, with latitude for independent contribution, the Designer I works from rough engineering notes, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to create complex mechanical designs and CAD models. This role supports product development and manufacturing operations through high-quality CAD documentation and design execution.
Key Responsibilities- Design new components or modify existing designs to develop or improve products and support manufacturing operations.
- Create detailed CAD models and drawings for complex assemblies, mechanisms, and individual parts.
- Determine design characteristics including packaging, panel and control layouts, functional configuration, and structural design elements.
- Evaluate design considerations such as manufacturability, material availability, tooling and equipment needs, interchangeability, replaceability, and serviceability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams impacted by design development.
- Gather and analyze design data; perform research on materials and components using handbooks, catalogs, and standard purchased parts.
- Adhere to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and functional guidelines.
- Support Engineering Services and Document Control by implementing CAD documentation updates associated with change requests.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality system processes and procedures.
Required Experience & Education- 1–2 years of relevant experience
- Associate degree, Technical Certificate, or Mechanical Drafting & Design Certificate (or equivalent)
- Solid Works certification strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative team player; comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Applies specialized technical knowledge to complete complex or detailed design assignments.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
- Supports continuous quality improvement by identifying issues and suggesting alternatives or enhancements.
- May determine appropriate methods and procedures for new assignments.
- May provide guidance to other support personnel as needed.
Errors may be difficult to detect and could require significant time and cost to correct, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and attention to detail.
Communication & Contacts- Frequent interaction with internal stakeholders and external organizations.
