Description: This is a task-oriented position that works with acquisitions. The hire will be processing CAD files from existing company systems to enable them for client use.

Purpose StatementUnder supervision, with latitude for independent contribution, the Designer works from rough engineering notes, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to create complex mechanical designs and CAD models.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Designer designs or modifies existing designs to develop or improve products or facilitate manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include creating complex CAD models of assemblies and detailed parts of devices and mechanisms.
- Determines design characteristics such as packaging, panel/control CAD models, functional configuration, and key structural design.
- Investigates pertinent design factors including ease of manufacture, material availability, tooling and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, and serviceability.
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
- Gathers and analyzes design information, makes studies, and performs research regarding materials or parts needed for design using applicable handbook data and catalog knowledge.
- Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures and applicable Work Instructions.
- Supports Engineering Services Document Control with changes to CAD documentation associated with Change Requests.
In all actions, the Designer demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Experience Requirements1–2 years of experience with an AA Technical Certificate, Mechanical Drafting & Design Certificate, or a very similar qualification.
KnowledgeExtensive knowledge in specialized functions, applying complex technical concepts and practices, with a complete understanding of product or system fundamentals and related disciplines.
Cognitive SkillsPerforms complex or specialized technical assignments normally in the nature of projects, requiring independent work. May design, develop, or modify area-specific equipment, materials, systems, or products. Assignments require considerable judgment, initiative, creativity, leadership, and continuous quality improvement.
Supervision ReceivedMinimal supervision. Work may be done without established procedures, requiring determination of methods and procedures on new assignments and guidance to other support personnel.
Consequence of ErrorsErrors are difficult to detect and would normally require significant expenditures to resolve.
ContactsThe role requires frequent communication with individuals representing outside organizations and key internal stakeholders, involving planning, preparation, and negotiation skills to achieve communication objectives.
