About the role
In support of the External Operations organization, the Sr. Supplier Engineer will focus on new product introduction, sustaining, and value improvement projects for the Connectors & Cable Assemblies (C&CA) and Sourced Finished Medical Devices (SFMD) categories. This role partners with cross‑functional groups to resolve complex and critical supplier‑related issues, while improving supplier performance, mitigating risks for supplied materials and driving strategies to support supply chain objectives.
Responsibilitieswill include:
- Working with suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished‑good manufacturing processes and act as a technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.
- Serving as a technical lead in Global Sourcing category teams to establish and execute category objectives.
- Investigating and evaluating new and existing technologies for use in future products or to improve quality/reliability of current products.
- Interfacing with suppliers and category team members to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.
- Collaborating with R&D, manufacturing and process development teams on electrical and mechanical design requirements for new product development.
- Partnering with cross‑functional teams to execute changes initiated by BSC or suppliers, such as improvement projects, supplier capability, capacity projects, and compliance projects.
- Coordinating all phases of supplier engineering work content for projects; communicating emerging issues and recovery action plans with site leadership and stakeholders to gain resources and support.
- Identifying and executing material cost reduction projects to meet Plant, Division, and Category goals. Influencing cross‑functional team members to support and drive value improvement projects.
- In all actions, demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of technical experience supporting complex mechanical or electrical systems.
- Ability to travel 10-20% globally.
- Effective problem‑solving and critical thinking analytical skills; results‑driven.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Experience working in medical device or a similar GMP environment.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams to drive project deliverables.
- Experience working with suppliers.
- Knowledge of Boston Scientific products and processes.
- Organized and detail‑oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Self‑driven and self‑motivated to learn and apply knowledge to produce results.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships.
- Working knowledge of statistical methods, six‑sigma methodologies, and problem‑solving methodologies.
Requisition
Minimum Salary: $82,600
Maximum Salary: $156,900
The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see – will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
Compensation for non‑exempt (hourly), non‑sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
