About the role:

The Director of Scientific Affairs leads the AFib Solutions Scientific Affairs team, supporting the Electrophysiology and WATCHMAN™ franchises. This role is responsible for developing and executing franchise-specific evidence strategies to address critical data gaps, strengthen scientific partnerships, and deliver impactful podium and publication strategies. The Director will ensure alignment with therapeutic and business objectives, foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and advance Boston Scientific’s position as a leader in patient-focused innovation.

This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Arden Hills, MN office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team in interpreting clinical data and trial designs to identify evidence gaps and strategic opportunities within the atrial fibrillation space.
  • Set and align scientific and communication strategies with therapeutic area goals, leveraging clinical trends and unmet needs to drive impactful publications and education initiatives.
  • Ensure the team effectively translates complex scientific data into clear, accurate, and compelling content for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Clinical, Regulatory, R&D, Health Economics, and Marketing to ensure scientific messaging is integrated into overarching business strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), fostering collaboration and embedding best practices across medical marketing, clinical, and sales functions.
  • Provide strategic leadership across Scientific Affairs to ensure team alignment with clinical and organizational objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader to internal and external stakeholders, contributing to initiatives that enhance therapy adoption and reinforce scientific credibility.
  • Allocate and manage resources appropriately. Manage budgets.
  • Define and implement team processes to ensure executional excellence.
Required qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a scientific or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Scientific Affairs, Clinical Affairs or a related function
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in people or team management
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally
  • Proven strategic planning skills and willingness to take calculated risks
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and collaborative approach
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent project management and execution skills
  • Strong clinical, scientific, and technical acumen; effective presenting to physicians
  • Proven ability to build credibility and relationships with KOLs and clinical investigators
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in a clinical or scientific field
  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate emerging technologies and data
  • Prior experience with cardiac and electrophysiology therapies preferred

Requisition

Minimum Salary: $155000

Maximum Salary: $294500
