Position Summary

Performs duties as outlined by the Pipeline Manager related to the receipt and shipment of petroleum products via pipeline. Maintenance and accounting responsibilities in accordance with established company and governmental regulations. Assists with operations, maintenance, safety and environmental matters in the temporary absence of the Pipeline Manager. This position will repair and maintain pipelines, equipment, and performance of work associated with the operations and maintenance of gas and liquid facilities and pipelines.

Accountabilities
  • Answers and responds to after-hour calls (24 hours per day / 7 days per week).
  • Forwards monthly inventory and accounting reports to the appropriate customers.
  • Inspect, maintain, and operate facilities including pipelines, valves, filters, pumps, gas compressors, storage tanks, metering, and sampling equipment.
  • Inspect pump station equipment in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with Sunoco's procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Damage Prevention activities including pipeline patrols, one‑calls, locating and marking pipelines, inspecting line crossings, excavations, and other activities affecting the pipeline.
  • Monitors, inspects, and evaluates trouble areas along ROW that are reported by ground or aerial surveillance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements, perform required tasks, and complete associated documentation (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities and coordinate work with employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate and communicate with outside parties including landowners, public agencies, contractors, utilities, and other pipeline operators.
  • Actively participate and provide leadership in safety programs and initiatives and follow policies and procedures.
  • Provide on‑call support for areas of responsibility.
  • Comply with Sunoco safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).
  • Is a self‑starter and willing to adapt to changing conditions.
Education Requirement
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Requirement
  • One year of related previous experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently proof work for accuracy.
  • Ability to be alert and drive excessive miles daily.
  • Ability to manage time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Ability to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to use awareness of relationships and impacts of data trends and elements to appropriately recommend actions that impact both near and long‑term company operations and profits.
  • Ability to independently conduct job accountabilities.
  • Ability to take directions from supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to supervise digging by third parties around our high‑pressure pipelines required.
  • Ability to plan activities on the pipeline with a weekly to monthly time horizon required.
Physical Demands
  • Climbing at least 60 feet on stairs at least a few times per week.
  • Climbing at least 7 to 11 feet on ladders or scaffolding at least a few times per month.
