Overview

The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AITs and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.

The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position with additional high-level duties specific to that role, though the majority of duties are shared.

Responsibilities

• Sales Generation and Guest Service: greet Guests, provide legendary service, answer questions, recommend merchandise, create a wardrobe experience, demonstrate product knowledge, stay informed on sales, promotions, policies, and security practices, achieve personal sales goals, and maintain strong Guest relationships.
• Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development: recognize recruiting opportunities, coach and develop new Teammates, maintain a positive floor culture, demonstrate proper dress, participate in training, motivate daily task completion, and support leadership actions.
• Visual Merchandise Management: own and influence product zones, execute new tools and visuals, delegate zone ownership, ensure adherence to visual standards, and identify merchandising opportunities.
• Operations: maintain a flexible schedule, complete opening/closing procedures, monitor security, perform POS procedures, handle communications with Corporate, keep the store clean and organized, follow Loss Prevention practices, and manage policies on payments, returns, and exchanges.
• Supervisory and Leadership: provide feedback, support leadership, promote growth, conduct daily interviews as needed, solve problems, travel to cover other stores, and lead in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Supervisory Responsibilities:
  
  assist the Store Manager in supervising.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related retail experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Physical Demands: ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs; various vision requirements; ability to perform duties in a retail environment.
• Work Environment: retail store setting with moderate noise.
