Operator - Sewer Collection

Performs semi‑skilled maintenance work in the Sewer Collection Division of the City in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines. The position requires after normal business hours, on‑call and work on appointed weekends.

• Assist with repairs, projects and preventative maintenance of all machinery and equipment.
• Maintain and repair sewer lines; repair and replace sewer lines due to leaks; unclog sewer lines; lay new sewer lines as required.
• Operate pneumatic and hand tools; operate all equipment and trucks; clean and maintain equipment.
• Must be able to explain and take directions via phone from Supervisor and Warehouse Storekeeper, when necessary for needed repairs.
• Help maintain a parts inventory.
• Must be able to work without supervision; must be able to work "on‑call".
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

High School Diploma or GED.

• Valid Driver’s License. Must have or be able to obtain CDL within 12 months.
• Must have or be able to obtain within 12 months ODEQ Class "D" Distribution and Collection Operator License or higher.

• Knowledge of State and DEQ regulations governing the operation of a wastewater collection system.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, peers, and the general public, both verbally and in written form; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be organized, efficient, creative and capable of implementing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must have basic math skills.

Physical activities are limited. Standing, walking, sitting, and using hands are required. Lifting up to 50 pounds is acceptable.

• Effective relations exist with co‑workers as well as with the public and complaints are resolved in a timely manner.
• The City’s professional reputation is maintained.

This job has been classified as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Municipal possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
