Position OverviewSeeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Supervisor to support a growing property management portfolio. This role is ideal for a seasoned property accountant or senior accountant who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, mentoring others, and partnering closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong accounting processes. The Accounting Supervisor will work closely with the Controller, who will handle higher‑level people management, while this role focuses on execution, oversight, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
- Review and manage general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close processes
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with operations and leadership
- Assist with audit and tax support, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and coordination with external auditors and tax professionals
- Train, mentor, and review the work of property accountants, providing guidance and hands‑on support as needed
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Yardi, ensuring proper setup, usage, and compliance with accounting standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, evaluating existing workflows and making recommendations to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Step in as needed to assist with detailed accounting work, particularly during month‑end, audits, or peak periods
- Maintain a professional, collaborative presence and lead by example within the accounting team
- 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in property management or real estate accounting (multifamily strongly preferred)
- Prior experience as a Senior Property Accountant or similar role with oversight or review of other accountants’ work
- Corporate accounting experience a plus, particularly supporting audits and tax processes
- Strong working knowledge of Yardi required
- Solid understanding of GAAP and property management accounting best practices
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with process improvement, automation, or system enhancements
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Willingness to be hands‑on and committed to seeing work through completion
